Secure in the Faith

 

DeAnna is a devoted disciple of the Savior, whose eyes are upon Him, and whose heart is filled with love and gratitude for Him. She is the president of an international company that certifies coaches and teaches business leaders how to live in the A+ Zone. She is an active keynote speaker and author, and has spoken at EFY, as well as teaching institute for nearly a decade.  She was recently released as the Minneapolis Stake Relief Society President.  Her favorite work, is as a wife, mother and grandmother, and as a temple worker—and in the individual ministering she does in the church and throughout the world.

Chris Barden

The Doctrines, Duties, Joys, and Blessings of Rescuing Our Ancestors

Brother Chris Barden joined the Church at age 33 after a decade of searching and research on religions, coping, and resilience. Dr. Barden received his Ph.D. in 1982 in clinical psychology from the Univ. of Minnesota with additional graduate training at U.C. Berkeley and the Stanford Medical Center/Palo Alto USVA Hospital. A recipient of two national science awards in psychology, Dr. Barden’s interest in public policy and reforming the mental health and medical systems led him to obtain a law degree. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1992. He continues to practice law and psychology throughout the US and publishes in medical, psychological, public policy, and legal journals. 

In the Church, Brother Barden has served as a Ward Clerk, Elders Quorum President, Branch President, in a Stake Mission Presidency, as a Stake Family History Specialist, as a High Priest Group Leader, a Bishop, and a Stake High Councilor in Utah and in MN. He currently serves as the Director of Church Public Affairs in Minnesota. He loves Family History and Temple Work.

Angela Hallstrom

When You, Or Someone You Love, Experiences a Crisis of Faith

Angela Hallstrom lives in Woodbury, Minnesota and is the mother of four children ranging in age from 9 to 19. She is the author of the novelBound on Earth, literature review editor for BYU Studies, and teaches English and composition at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She is a member of the Woodbury Ward and loves to read, write, practice yoga, and spend time with her family.

John Longstreet

Self Defense

John started martial arts training at age 13.  He was immediately invited to assist the instructor and has been teaching ever since.  He was a professional kick boxer and has competed all over the world.  At the peak of his professional career he was the World Middle-weight Kick Boxing Champion.  He is passionate about teaching Martial Arts and self-defense strategies.  John is a single adult and a member of the Minnetonka ward.

 

John will teach us some of the basics of protecting yourself, how to increase your awareness and perhaps avoid a physical confrontation and be better prepared if you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation.
